An Office Tick

A quick look through a flock of about 1000 gulls in a field outside the window at work in south Warrington this morning revealed two pristine adult Mediterranean Gulls displaying, bringing my year list to 164. Just goes to show it's always worth a look through gull flocks at this time of year.

Also from the office window today, eight Buzzards in the air together.

I thought there were two Mediterranean Gulls in the flock, but now I'm not so sure, there might have been three. In this photo you can see a bird at the back just left of centre with a bird asleep to its right. At the back just right of centre there is another bird preening which is also a Med Gull.

In this photo you can now see that the bird which was preening is clearly a Med Gull. On the left at the back you can see the original bird, still with a bird asleep to its right. If the bird asleep is a Med Gull then that makes three Meds. The sleeping bird appears to have a black hood rather than the chocolate brown of the Black-headed Gulls, but perhaps it also has black primaries?
