ReplyDeleteive had another tip off of a Little Owl in an old wooden farming shed along Red Bank Rd, bottom end of Billinge along the bottom of Houghwood Golf course. I went to have a look this morning but i didnt see it. Its just as you get to the end of Red Bank Rd before the private, no access sign to Red Barn farm bungalow. The lad who told me was adamant and also told me about one in the same spot a couple of years back and said he was watching it last week. He said it looke to be a different colour than last time! Would a Little Owl have winter plumage?
No Little Owl doesn't have a winter plumage. Probably just a trick of the light. I might go for a look myself, I was thinking just yesterday that I didn't know of any good Little Owl sites in the area any more. A few years ago I could have named several farms with Little Owl.
