RSPB Portmore Lough, Northern Ireland

By 8:00am I'd arrived in Belfast, picked up the hire car and was well on my way to an appointment near Lisburn scheduled for 9:30. There didn't seem much point in getting there an hour early, so I called in at the nearby RSPB reserve Portmore Lough. I didn't have time to get into the heart of the reserve, but even so I managed distant views of about 50 Common Terns hanging around a breeding raft and three lingering Whooper Swans. Elsewhere today, at least 10 Whimbrel, a few Hooded Crows and a few Wheatears.
